Thursday Mens Classic Singles and Doubles League Rules

Singles and Doubles League Rules

1. This league will be a singles and doubles league, conducted simultaneously. Each week, each bowler will be bowling singles against one other randomly determined bowler, and doubles with a random partner, against two random opponents.

2. The cost will be $20, payable on or before January 19th. It is a one time fee to establish a prize fund. All money collected will be deposited into the prize fund. There is no lineage fee, and no fee to run the league.

3. This will be a handicap league, 90% of the difference between the two “teams”. For Singles, it is 90% of the difference between the two bowlers. There is no cap on the amount of handicap.

4. The point structure each night is as follows:

a. In singles, each game is worth 2 points, and totals will be worth 1 point. Compare each head to head game (with handicap), to determine the winner. Points will be split in the event of a tie.

b. In doubles, each game is worth 2 points, and totals will be worth an additional 1 point. Compare each teams head to head total (with handicap) to determine the winner. Points will be split in the event of a tie.

c. Each bowler can win a potential of 14 points per week.

5. Updated standings will be available each week, and also available on our website: http://tmcleague.blogspot.com/

6. An absent bowler will bowl his average for all three games that night, and is eligible for handicap if appropriate.

7. In the event of needing a blind bowler (total number of bowlers must be divisible by 4), the vacant bowlers will average 190, and bowl 190 every game. They are also eligible for handicap, however they will not qualify for any prizes.

8. The league will begin on Thursday, January 19th. On the first night, all matchups for the remainder of the season will be drawn, except for knockdown weeks. A schedule will be provided the week of January 26th, and will be available electronically by email anytime, or on our website at http://tmcleague.blogspot.com/.

9. The league will conclude the week prior to the final knockdowns of the second half. This is to avoid any conflicts with the rolloffs.

10. During Thursday Mens Classic knockdown weeks, the Singles and Doubles league will also have knockdowns. For Singles, the first place bowler will bowl the second place bowler, third place bowl fourth place, and so on. For doubles, the first place bowler will be paired with the third place bowler, against the second and fourth place bowlers. Fifth and seventh will bowl sixth and eighth, and so on.

a) Ties on knockdown nights will be broken based on total pins with handicap during the Singles and Doubles season only.

11. Prizes will be awarded in a 1:6 ratio. A prize list will be distributed on February 2nd detailing the position payouts and be available on our website, http://tmcleague.blogspot.com/. Payouts will be done during the final week of Thursday Mens Classic.

12. The final night championships for the Singles and Doubles league will be strictly Singles. The format will matchup the 4th place bowler in the standings against the 3rd place bowler for the first game only. Handicap will be used. The winner of this match will bowl the 2nd place bowler in game two. The winner of this match will bowl the first place qualifier in the third game of the night to determine our champion.
a) Ties heading into the championship knockdown night will be broken as follow:
i) Total points earned in Singles Competition
ii) Total pins plus handicap during the Singles and Doubles season
iii) Total piins plus handicap on the final night of the season

13. For any other rules, the USBC rule book will be used.
